Trap originated in the Southern part of the US in the 90s, specifically Atlanta, Georgia. Some of the most well-known early trap artists in the 90s were 8Ball & MJG, Three 6 Mafia, UGK, Ghetto Mafia, and Master P. Stylistically, it has a big influence from Southern Hip-Hop, Gangsta Rap, Crunk, Memphis Rap, and Snap Music, while modern Trap is influencing Emo Rap and Hyperpop. The classic Roland TR-808 sound goes through most of the Trap hits.
